CLARK – Absence
Just heard these guys on the radio last night, so I Shazam'd it, and at first after looking at the album cover I thought it might have tagged the wrong song, but sure enough when I started playing it on YouTube I was greeted with that beautiful familiar sound!
Aphex Twin – nanou2
Amazing relaxing minimal piano piece from the talented Aphex Twin. First time I heard this one was yesterday, and couldn't believe I hadn't heard it before!
Phoenix – Love Like a Sunset
Wow! I knew Phoenix had some amazing music, but for some reason I never took the time to explore them further! My good friend Adam showed me this track tonight, and I thought I just HAD to post it up! Great instrumental ambient piece that just carries you on and on and on, and...even when you think it will stop, it just takes you higher!
This is in three parts, so I figured I would just put all the parts on here!!
PART I & II
PART III
Northern Lights – Slow Burn
More REAL hip hop!
This track is UNBELIEVABLE!!! Plenty more like this to come!
Nomak – Blessing Dance
I realized how long it's been since I've listened to this song, so I had to bring to back! A great one to share on the blog. I think everyone needs to appreciate the versatility of hip hop instrumentalists such as Nomak. I first stumbled upon this song when I was in Shibuya, Tokyo. I was wandering around a music store there, and listening to every album that piqued my interest. Pretty much every track blew me away, so I snapped a photo of the album cover to make sure I could find it in the future!
Enjoy this delightful uplifting hip hop tune!
Ayur – Children of the Earth
Another brilliant artist following along the lines of Nujabes. Beautiful instrumental hiphop, filled with enchanting strings, divine piano melodies, and an overall feel good vibe. This is how hip hop was meant to be!
Detektivbyrån – Om Du Möter Varg (Live Nyhetsmrgon 2007)
This is perhaps the only band I've seen that stands up to (and even goes beyond) Yann Tiersen's style. They are a fresh blend of multi-instrumentalist musicians who capture this minimalist style perfectly, and add their own little flair to it. The use of toy pianos, accordions, glockenspiels, is simply perfect!
My favourite response to this song is:
"they should write all the music for Tim Burton movies."
